Intrust Backs Super Comp

Redcliffe Dolphins Rugby League Football Club - Intrust Backs Super Comp

QUEENSLAND'S premier rugby league competition - the Queensland Cup - has secured a major sponsor for the next three years.

Intrust Super, a Platinum Rated leading superannuation provider, has linked with the QRL and the 12 competing clubs in a partnership that will financially assist both bodies.

The competition, which did not have a major backer last season, will now be known as the Intrust Super Cup.

In announcing the partnership, Intrust Super CEO Brendan O'Farrell expressed his delight that his Board has seen fit to select the competition as their first major foray into the sporting arena.

"We are very appreciative of the needs of the clubs and our support will assist them and their members to benefit through our vast experience and services that our network provides," O'Farrell said.

QRL Managing Director, Ross Livermore, said the partnership adds to the profile of the League and the competition which continues to strengthen each year.

"Brendan and the Board of Intrust Super won't be disappointed that they have become involved," Livermore said.

"This is the 15th year of this first class competition and early signs point to the 2010 season being one of the most entertaining and keenly contested on record."

The partnership was officially announced at the launch of the new Cup season at Gianni Events, Portside, today.

More than 200 guests were on hand to hear from O'Farrell, who reaffirmed his company's commitment to the competition and the long-term future of the code.

"It is my hope that this partnership will help Queensland remain a dominant force in Australian rugby league.

The partnership will see developmental assistance reach all levels of the game," O'Farrell said.

The Intrust Super Cup kicks off on Saturday at 2pm, with Wynnum Manly hosting the Burleigh Bears in the first of six big games.
